Just like Jesus
We want to be like Jesus. Without Jesus, what we are doing would be a nice club or a quaint social gathering.
But it's about Jesus--the living, risen Lord of the world. And we've given up everything to follow him wherever he takes us.
We make no bones about that.
So what we want to do is to plant in Jesus' followers Jesus' three great loves. Augustine, one of the early church's most influential leaders, said it like this: We are defined by what we love.
So we want to become people who love who and what Jesus loves.
We say it this way: love God + love people + serve our community
Love God +
You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind, this is the first and greatest commandment. —Matthew 22: 37-40
Out of the love God first has for us, Jesus calls us to a life of loving God with generous devotion. We want to plant the love of God into the life of every
person--helping them embrace the love God has for them--embracing their identity in Jesus and helping them respond in loving obedience to all that God asks.
Love People +
A second is equally important, ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ The entire law and all the prophets are based on these two commands. —Matthew 22: 37-40
Jesus teaches us that our love for God isn't real unless we love one another. The quality of our lives is defined by the quality of our relationships, so we want to be people who are good at relationships. We are becoming people who know how to love, care, forgive and always work for .
Serve Our Community
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. —Matthew 28: 19-20
Our mission is to share Jesus generously because we believe the message of Jesus brings healing and wholeness to brokenness everywhere it goes. It's what the word Gospel means: good news. Our lives have been profoundly impacted by the ministry of Jesus so we hope to humbly and sincerely offer that same ministry to the world.
